We have experienced more than 500 border posts and have been exposed to Africa’s unique peculiarities, scams and frustrations of different requirements for each country.

We provide a single point of contact for advice on visa requirements, application procedures, having the correct cash and currency at hand and aspects such as vaccinations and medical precautions.

We assist our clients to put together a full documentation pack for stressless border crossings.

Where there are alternative border posts available to enter any country, we advise them on the best possible alternative.

We keep hard- and electronic copies of all their documentation in case theirs get lost along the way

Over the years, we have tried and tested various types of vehicles, equipment and accessories. We know exactly what works and what does not work.

Our clients get a fully equipped vehicle, meticulously prepared and serviced by our 4x4 Fitment Center team.  Each vehicle is equipped with all the accessories,

kitchen equipment, recovery gear and safety equipment that they might need.

We work with our clients to suggest a comprehensive personal packing list. At handover, we take them through all the equipment and accessories. We suggest a grocery list to get them going and will even do the shopping for them if needed!

We know to expect the unexpected. One might be forced to take an unplanned detour,

spend a night or two camping in the wild or to negotiate a physical obstacle or two.

With our vehicles, our clients are enabled to be self-sufficient for long periods of time and covering long distances in the unknown.

Our expedition vehicles are equipped with the following:

  • GPS with Tracks4Africa maps, covering minute detailed roads and tracks in Southern Africa.

  • Long range fuel tanks to enable travel distances up to 1,000 kms between fuel stops

  • Fresh water tanks

  • Superior recovery gear including electrical winch, shackles and ropes.

  • Fridge/freezers running off solar panels and secondary battery systems.

The Voetspore team has a proud record of covering more than 250,000 kms on every imaginable type of road and terrain without any major incident or accident.

The answer lies in preparation, equipment and applying a good deal of common sense.

The safety well-being of our clients is our top priority, and we spare no effort to ensure their journey is secure and enjoyable.

We provide our clients with a full, personalized safety briefing ahead of each trip. The key safety areas that we focus on, include:

  • Negotiating large cities

  • How to handle roadblocks

  • Road safety

  • Camping in the wild

  • How to behave around wild animals

  • Physical safety around the campsite

  • Inoculations and vaccinations

  • What to do in case of an emergency and/or safety incident

  • Avoiding petty crime – especially during border crossings

Traveling in Africa can be intimidating. Mishaps happen. Accidents do take place. Documentation can get lost and external events can force travelers to change their travel plans.

We make sure our clients are safe and covered for all sudden and unforeseen events.

Our comprehensive insurance is included in our rates, and covers our clients in South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Burundi, DRC (south of Kolwezi), Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

We work with our clients to optimize their insurance coverage, depending on their individual travel plans. All our clients are covered for all potential sudden and unforeseen events involving any of our vehicles, including 24 hours medical evacuation.

We also offer optional travel insurance and the option to reduce the standard excess payable in case of a claim.
